October 27, 2016 – In a thrilling collaboration, SkyPixel has launched its 2016 annual aerial photography contest in association with DJI, the renowned leader in aerial imaging technology. This contest invites both amateur and professional photographers to capture stunning aerial views and showcase the transformative nature of aerial photography.

Participants are encouraged to submit their best work from October 26 to December 30, 2016. The contest offers two main categories for submissions: “Beauty,” which explores the breathtaking charm of natural landscapes and urban architecture, and “360-Degree Aerial Panorama,” which highlights immersive views suitable for Virtual Reality (VR). To broaden the creative horizon, there’s also a category for “Drones In Use” capturing the spectacle of drones in flight.

Last year’s grand prize winner, Kirk Hille, reflects on the unique framing opportunities presented by aerial photography. Hille’s stunning capture of his fiancé battling against delightfully turbulent waves exemplifies the extraordinary perspectives that can be achieved with a drone, illustrating just how impactful aerial imagery can be. His photograph was a standout among over 11,000 submissions from participants across 140 countries, showcasing the contest’s global reach.

This year, the Grand Prize winner can expect to receive an exciting DJI Mystery Box that includes a DJI Mavic Pro, cutting-edge Epson Moverio BT-300 smart glasses, and a top-notch Epson SureColor P400 Wide Format Photo Printer. Additionally, winners will be granted a one-year membership to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography and other impressive prizes, such as the DJI Osmo+ and DJI Osmo Mobile.
