SkyPixel and DJI Announce Exciting Opportunities for Aerial Creatives

DJI, along with SkyPixel, a renowned platform for aerial photography and videography, has officially kicked off its much-anticipated SkyPixel Aerial Photo & Video Contest. Running from December 21, 2021, to February 21, 2022, this year’s competition invites creatives to submit their extraordinary work across six video categories and four photography categories.

As drone technology continues to evolve, an increasing number of individuals are harnessing the power of these flying cameras to capture breathtaking landscapes and moments from their daily lives. Over the past six years, SkyPixel has provided a platform for aerial creators worldwide, showcasing a plethora of unique stories and artistic perspectives. With its 7th anniversary, SkyPixel encourages artists and storytellers to share their visions and narratives like never before.

Contest Categories and Judging

This year’s competition covers 10 categories in total, allowing participants to utilize any drone model without restrictions. Creatives are encouraged to submit as many entries as they like. All submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of industry professionals that includes influential figures like Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Alex Mellis.

Exciting Prizes Await

DJI and SkyPixel will award over 54 prizes this year, with a total prize pool nearing $100,000. Grand prize winners in both photography and video categories will each receive a DJI coupon valued at $7,500, redeemable on any DJI product. Other prizes include the advanced DJI Mavic 3, DJI Air 2S Fly More Combo, DJI RS 2 Pro Combo, and DJI Action 2 Dual-Screen Combo.

Special Mavic 3 Award

This year introduces a special Mavic 3 Limited Award. One winner from photography and one from video will be recognized for their submissions made using a DJI Mavic 3, allowing them to select any DJI product valued under $6,000. Additionally, all entries shot on the Mavic 3 will have the opportunity to be featured by the editorial team and gain a 15% discount on DJI Mavic 3 accessories.

Categories in Detail

The video contest features six categories:

• Nature: Capture the captivating beauty of the natural world.
• City: Document the dynamic energy and stories of urban life.
• Travel: Share your globetrotting adventures, featuring people and moments.
• FPV: Showcase an immersive flying experience packed with excitement.
• Sport: Highlight intense moments of athletic endeavors.
• Showreel: Create a short video that encapsulates your memorable experiences from 2021.

All video entries must feature at least 30 seconds of aerial footage and must not exceed five minutes.

The photography contest includes four categories:

• Portrait: Capture the soul of individuals within captivating landscapes.
• Nature: Freeze a moment that reveals the splendor of the natural world.
• Architecture: Offer a fresh perspective on stunning structures.
• Sport: Portray the dynamic energy of athletes in action.

Note: All photographs must be captured using a drone, with a minimum size of 3 MB and a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Retaining EXIF data is essential.

Key Submission Dates

Entries can be submitted starting December 21, 2021, at 14:00 Beijing Time until February 21, 2022, at 14:00 Beijing Time. Award winners will be announced on March 22, 2022.
