Exciting News: SkyPixel and DJI Announce the 6th Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest!
Prizes total an impressive USD 83,000 with new categories for diverse storytelling!
The beloved SkyPixel community, in collaboration with DJI, has unveiled the details of their highly anticipated SkyPixel Aerial Photo & Video Contest. This competition, which runs from December 18, 2020, to February 18, 2021, is celebrating its sixth anniversary by expanding opportunities for creative expression with five exciting new categories: Vlog, FPV (First-Person View), Showreel, Hometown, and Environment. This initiative aims to empower content creators and storytellers to share their unique perspectives of the world.
New Categories to Ignite Creativity
Participants in the SkyPixel 6th Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest can choose from 11 categories split between photography and videography. The flexibility of the contest allows for submissions using any equipment brand, and creators can enter as many times as they wish. This year’s judging panel features an esteemed group of award-winning filmmakers and photographers, including notable names like Nathan McBride, Toby Strong, Chris Schmid, and Roie Galitz.
Generous Prizes Await Participants
SkyPixel and DJI will be rewarding over 55 winners, with a remarkable prize pool of approximately USD 83,000. Grand prize winners in both the photography and video categories will take home a cash prize of USD 7,500. Additionally, participants have a chance to win fantastic DJI products such as the Mavic 2, Mavic Air 2, RS 2, Pocket 2, and more. For those actively engaged in the community, each submission can earn points, and first-time entrants will receive a 20% discount code for DJI accessories upon submitting their initial entry.
Categories and Requirements
The contest comprises six categories for video entries:
- Vlog: Document your daily life and capture memorable moments.
- FPV: Craft an immersive experience that brings viewers closer to the action.
- Sport: Showcase the dynamism and energy of athletes engaged in sports.
- Travel: Tell a story focused on culture, humanity, or unforgettable adventures (must include people).
- Hometown: Share insights and stories about your hometown.
- Showreel: Compile a short film of your memorable moments from 2020.
Note for video entries: All submissions must not exceed five minutes and include at least 30 seconds of aerial footage, except for the Vlog category where aerial shots are optional but must specify the equipment used.
The photo competition includes five categories:
- Portrait: Capture the essence of a person within their environment.
- Nature: Reveal nature’s true beauty in a single moment.
- Architecture: Present architectural wonders from unique angles.
- Sport: Highlight the intensity and excitement of athletic pursuits.
- Environment: Shine a light on environmental issues that matter to you.
Important: All photos must be captured using a drone, with a minimum size of 3 MB and a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
Submission Timeline
