Patrick Côté Captures Tesla’s Presence in Hong Kong with DJI Inspire RAW
When IO Studio sought to unveil the power of the DJI Inspire RAW in the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, they turned to expert UAV pilot Patrick Côté. Côté, who is both the Founder and CEO of Hexwing, a Montreal-based company specializing in aerial photography and filmmaking, was tasked with capturing a dynamic video that reflected the growing prominence of Tesla in the region.
In a recent conversation, Patrick shared insights on how the Inspire RAW changes the landscape for aerial cinematography. “Shooting with the Inspire RAW is a breeze,” he stated. “Its quick deployment and superior image quality meet all my clients’ requirements. Even in adverse weather conditions, I can rely on its stability to produce exceptional footage.” Patrick highlighted that the drone’s agility and professional features make it an enjoyable tool for aerial shoots.

Precision in Action: Capturing Fast-Moving Subjects
When it comes to capturing motion, the Inspire RAW excels. “Whether it’s slow or fast-moving subjects, this drone handles it impressively. Mastering its motion takes a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, framing moving subjects becomes effortless,” Patrick shared.
The X5R camera carried by the Inspire RAW offers remarkable image quality compared to other aerial systems. “For its size, the X5R’s image quality is astonishing. With its ability to record RAW footage, I can explore new creative avenues during post-production,” said Côté. He noted that this capability, combined with the drone’s ease of use, has positioned it as an invaluable tool for cinematographers traveling for work.

A New Dimension in Post-Production
Patrick elaborated on the advantages of working with RAW footage. “The X5R provides access to the full dynamic range of the Micro Four Thirds sensor, allowing for extensive manipulation even in low-light conditions. Nighttime scenes can be challenging due to fluctuating light temperatures, but raw files enable us to fine-tune colors and ensure consistency across ground and aerial footage,” he explained.
“Having access to the sensor’s untouched potential is liberating—especially when trying to achieve visual harmony between aerial shots and ground camera work,” he added.

Challenges in a Dynamic Environment
Filming in Hong Kong presented its own set of challenges for Côté. “The hardest part was sticking to the shot list! With so much breathtaking scenery, it was tough to focus. The urban landscape is fantastic, but the surrounding nature—jungles, lakes, and mountains—adds to the allure. Also, the unpredictable weather can complicate things quite a bit!” he noted.
The Tesla Experience
Côté humorously acknowledged that he had yet to drive a Tesla in Hong Kong due to the challenging driving conditions. However, he mentioned his experience behind the wheel of a Model S P90D in North America, stating, “Once you drive a Tesla, you realize what driving can be!”
Patrick’s work showcases the exciting possibilities that drones, like the DJI Inspire RAW, offer to filmmakers. For instance, you can catch the Tesla Model S in action in Hong Kong in the mesmerizing footage captured by Côté:
