DJI and AUVSI Launch Second Annual XCELLENCE Humanitarian Awards
Nominations Now Open to Celebrate Impactful Use of Unmanned Technology
AUVSI XPONENTIAL, the premier international symposium for unmanned technology professionals, is excited to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the second annual AUVSI XCELLENCE Humanitarian Awards. Supported by DJI, a global leader in civilian drone and aerial imaging systems, these awards aim to honor organizations and individuals who utilize unmanned technology creatively and effectively to advance humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives across the globe.
The Journey of Recognition
Brian Wynne, President and CEO of AUVSI, reflected on the success of the inaugural Humanitarian Awards launched in 2018, stating, “This event provided us with an exceptional platform to celebrate leaders who are dedicated to service and tackling global challenges in innovative ways. It is crucial that we spotlight these inspiring individuals.” Working in partnership with DJI, AUVSI aims to share these inspiring narratives that highlight the transformative potential of unmanned technologies in humanitarian efforts.
Highlighting Humanitarian Efforts
The Humanitarian Awards serve as a distinguished category within the annual AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards, which will take place during AUVSI XPONENTIAL from April 29 to May 2, 2019, at McCormick Place in Chicago. This premier event offers a unique opportunity to applaud outstanding contributions in unmanned technology, with winners announced across 14 categories that focus on advancements enhancing economic, lifestyle, and societal impacts. Award recipients in the Humanitarian category will receive a total of $25,000, distributed among their respective organizations.
Past Winners Inspire Future Innovation
In 2018, the inaugural AUVSI XCELLENCE Humanitarian Awards recognized five organizations for their remarkable efforts in critical missions utilizing drone technology. These missions ranged from hurricane relief operations to medical deliveries, search and rescue initiatives, and hazard mapping. Honorees expressed that receiving this award not only inspired them but also provided crucial funding for their ongoing projects.
