July 31, 2017 – DJI, a prominent name in civilian drone technology and aerial imaging, has announced a thrilling opportunity for robotics enthusiasts: the RoboMaster 2017 finals will be exclusively livestreamed on Twitch. Running from July 31 to August 6, this event is set to engage a diverse international audience, showcasing teams of aspiring engineers as they compete with innovative robots designed and built by themselves.
An Unforgettable Competition
“RoboMaster brings together engineering excellence, gaming excitement, and entertainment,” stated Cinzia Palumbo, Senior Brand Manager at DJI, commenting on the competition’s global reach. What began as a localized event in China has flourished into an international phenomenon, drawing talented teams from countries including the U.S., U.K., Germany, and various parts of Asia. “Streaming this event on Twitch allows us to connect with a broader audience and showcase the transformative potential of robotics,” Palumbo added.
According to Palumbo, viewers can expect intense battles filled with creative strategies and cutting-edge robot technology. “Both live attendees at the stadium and online spectators will enjoy an exhilarating experience as robots clash on the battlefield,” she emphasized.
Entering the Arena
This year, DJI’s RoboMaster has attracted over 200 participating teams, with 32 finalists set to compete in Shenzhen’s largest sporting venue, the Shenzhen Bay Stadium. The event is expected to draw around 20,000 attendees, underscoring its growing popularity. Each match features five types of robots: Hero, Infantry, Engineer, Drone, and Base, which work collaboratively to achieve victory. Teams will engage in strategic, fast-paced matches that last seven minutes each, emphasizing skills in technology and engineering.
In these high-stakes competitions, robots are equipped with sensors that track damage and health points, adding an engaging layer of strategy to the matches. The objective is simple yet challenging: disable the opposing team’s Base robot or have the higher Base HP at the end of the match.
Engaging a Global Audience
This year marks the debut of the RoboMaster finals streaming to a worldwide audience, leveraging Twitch’s extensive platform. As a leading social video platform with millions of users, Twitch is the ideal avenue for sharing this thrilling competition. “The Twitch community appreciates dynamic and engaging content, and RoboMaster embodies both,” shared Zachary Diaz, Partnerships Manager at Twitch. “With DJI leading the way in tech innovation, we’re excited to witness the action.”
As the RoboMaster competition continues to grow, it not only generates excitement among engineering enthusiasts but also captures the imagination of the public. This year’s finals promise to deliver a spectacular showcase of creativity and competition, making it an event not to be missed.
