DJI, in collaboration with over 10 million users from the SkyPixel community, has officially announced the launch of the 2018 SkyPixel Aerial Photo & Video Contest. This highly anticipated annual event invites photographers, videographers, and aerial enthusiasts from all corners of the globe to showcase their breathtaking work captured from above. The contest will run from December 18, 2018, to February 18, 2019, offering a platform for both seasoned professionals and aspiring creators to share their unique perspectives.
Diverse Categories and No Equipment Restrictions
The 2018 contest features two formats for storytelling: still photography and video, without restrictions on the type or brand of aerial equipment used. Participants are encouraged to submit an unlimited number of entries across several categories, establishing a diverse showcase of aerial creativity.
Exciting Prizes Await Participants
Contestants have the chance to win remarkable prizes, including the prestigious Hasselblad X1D-50c camera, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone, and the innovative Osmo Pocket three-axis gimbal. In 2019, SkyPixel plans a series of exhibitions at various DJI Flagship Stores to display the winning entries. Moreover, selected works will be featured in workshops led by contest winners and professional photographers.

Since its inception in 2014, SkyPixel has grown to become a significant platform for aerial photographers and videographers, attracting creative talent from over 140 countries. Previous contests have garnered more than 100,000 submissions, featuring extraordinary footage that captures the essence of nature, culture, and architecture from a distinct aerial viewpoint.
Categories and Submission Guidelines
The video contest is divided into five categories, including Nature, City, Sport, Travel, and Creative, each prompting participants to showcase their unique storytelling abilities through the lens of their drones. Video submissions should not exceed five minutes and must include a minimum of 30 seconds of aerial footage.
The photo contest encompasses four categories: Nature, Architecture, Fun, and Sport. Each aims to draw out compelling moments from the aerial perspective. Participants must always adhere to safety regulations and local guidelines while flying.
From the nine categories available, a total of 49 awards will be presented, including two Grand Prizes and nine top awards per category. The contest culminates in numerous prizes valued at approximately $120,000 USD. A panel of distinguished judges—comprising award-winning directors, photographers, and influencers—will evaluate entries, ensuring that the highest level of creativity is recognized.

Submissions window opens on December 18, 2018, at 2:00 PM China Standard Time, closing on February 18, 2019, at 2:00 PM China Standard Time, with winners announced on March 20, 2019.
