DJI Academy and RMUS Canada Launch Drone Pilot Training Program
New Training Centers Established Nationwide
On June 16, 2021, DJI, a globally recognized leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, joined forces with RMUS Canada, a prominent unmanned systems fleet management provider in North America, to launch a comprehensive drone pilot training program across Canada. This collaboration brings together some of the top RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) training companies in the nation, aiming to establish official DJI Academy UTC programs along with RMUS Aircraft Certification initiatives.
As industries in Canada increasingly adopt drone technologies, the RMUS Canada EDU Network is designed to empower individuals by providing essential skills and knowledge, ensuring they emerge as safe and competent professional drone pilots. The partnership offers organizations, including businesses and government agencies, cutting-edge training and operational standards while also preparing them for Transport Canada licensing to bolster their drone applications.
A New Era for Aspiring Drone Pilots
Andrew Zhu, CEO of DJI Academy, emphasized the value of this initiative, stating, “DJI Academy provides a robust range of tools, curriculum, and hands-on training to cultivate skilled drone pilots, fleet managers, and industrial operators. Our partnership with the experts at RMUS Canada is a fantastic opportunity to extend our resources to people nationwide.” He highlighted how the growing number of Canadian farmers, businesses, first responders, and photographers are embracing drone technology in their operations, and how DJI Academy is poised to support this movement.
Kevin Toderel from RMUS Canada expressed enthusiasm over this partnership, noting, “DJI Academy brings proven content and certification from the market leader in RPAS. We are thrilled to lead this effort in Canada alongside some of the finest RPAS training organizations.” This collaboration indicates significant progress in developing Canadian RPAS Pilots.
Comprehensive Training Across Canada
This initiative marks the first implementation of DJI Academy in North America, which is part of a global effort that has successfully educated over 80,000 drone pilots worldwide. The UTC Program emphasizes industry-specific applications, covering fields such as crop protection, inspections, aerial photography, mapping, and emergency responses. Each course involves product training, hands-on practical experience, best practices, regulatory compliance, and industry insights. To earn certification, participants must successfully complete both a theoretical exam and a practical flight assessment.

RMUS Canada is set to launch this partnership with five training centers strategically located across the country, ensuring the program is accessible in both official languages:
