Shenzhen, China – August 6, 2017 – The annual RoboMaster competition, designed for aspiring engineers, successfully concluded its 2017 edition at the Shenzhen Bay Stadium. With the South China University of Technology from Guangzhou clinching the top prize, they walked away with the coveted gold trophy and a substantial RMB 200,000 cash prize. This year’s competition witnessed a record participation from over 200 teams, totaling 7,000 young engineers, culminating in thrilling battles amongst 32 finalist teams.

Reflecting on the experience, Huanpeng Lu, the captain of the winning team, expressed gratitude: “Competing against such talented individuals from around the globe has been an incredible journey. We gained immense knowledge on how to implement theoretical concepts practically while collaborating as a team to innovate something extraordinary.”
Securing second place was Shandong University of Science and Technology, awarded RMB 100,000, while the Taiyuan Institute of Technology took home RMB 50,000 for their third-place finish.
Now in its third year, RoboMaster has piqued the interest of international students within the engineering and robotics sectors. Participants this year hailed from China, the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Macau. The competition benefits from a robust network of support, including partnerships with Twitch, Xilinx, Nvidia, Western Digital, and SanDisk.
